Merle Lee Nollkamper

Mrs. Merle Lee (Heath) Nollkamper, departed this life in Sweeny, Texas on the 24th day of October, 2013, at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 2 days.

Merle Nollkamper was born November 22, 1936 in Black River Township, Cumberland County, North Carolina, to the late David Alexander Heath and Vira Evaline Jackson Heath. She married Milton Nollkamper on February 14, 1955 at Fayetteville, North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband, Milton Nollkamper, daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Bailey and Jerry Don Bailey of Sweeny; granddaughter, Julie Bailey of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Steven Nollkamper and Maria Basterra of Durham, New Hampshire; and grandson, Daniel Nollkamper of Durham, New Hampshire. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen Strickland and Ray Strickland of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Betty Olaveson of Redlands, California; a brother and sister-in-law, William Haywood Heath and Loy Heath of Ash, North Carolina; a brother and sister-in-law, Milton Heath and Rebecca Ann Heath of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Heath and Kathy Heath of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Heath of Fayetteville, North Carolina; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother and one brother, Gene Heath.

Merle was employed at the Old Ocean Federal Credit Union from July 15, 1978 to April 28, 1993. She served as its Treasurer/Manager and Director from September 1, 1991 to April 28, 1993. She completed management training at the Southwest CUNA Management School at the University of Houston on July 25, 1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Old Ocean, prior to her illness, which necessitated her admittance to Sweeny House Nursing Home, Sweeny, Texas on April 21, 2006.

Family will receive friends at the Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Funeral Services will be held 2:30pm at Old Ocean Baptist Church on Sunday, October 27, 2013 with Rev. Joe Constantine officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Davis, Lester Dupler, James Meador, Darrell Smith, Sammy West and Ronnie Woodard. Burial will be in the Sweeny Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Old Ocean Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.Box 27, Old Ocean, Texas 77463
